Aries New Moon 27º | Collective Transmission
Friday, April 17 04:52am PT / 7:52am ET / 12:52pm GMT
Conjunct Chiron 26º Aries
This moon is telling a story about how brave we are to vulnerably begin again, and reminding us that birthing the new it is an absolutely vital part of life. It is calling us to alchemize the insecurities and perceived imperfections which have held us back from going boldly in the direction of our vision. With the moon and sun conjunct Chiron, the wounded healer, we’re invited to embrace the fool’s journey and confronting the part of ourselves which say we can’t do it, or we aren’t good enough. We’re asked to let whatever self-doubt exists get in the backseat - they can come along for the ride, but they’re not in the drivers seat - instinct is.
Yeah, you’re a lover, but you’re also a fighter. Are you ready to lace up your boots, and stand up for what you want in your life? Welcome to the Aries New Moon.
You are Here: the Courageous Beginning
Aries season is in full swing and firepower. This week, seven planetary placements move through Aries, and as they do, they form a dynamic, meaningful merger that emphasizes willpower, desire, passion, courage, and decisive action.
Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac, the place of rebirth and new beginnings. Each time a planet transits (moves through) Aries, it channels its own archetypal energy and intelligence into a fresh start or new initiation. When we have a majority of ALL celestial bodies moving through Aries at once, it suggests that collectively, we are now in the part of rebirth where we decide, begin, and make bold gut decisions with courage and self-trust.
Mars is the ruler of Aries, and with the Warrior of the Zodiac home in their fiery domicile, we are encouraged to stand for something, fight for what we want, embrace passion and follow the intelligence of instinct toward the impulses that light us up with desire - even if we don’t have a totally clear plan or strategy.
“Yo, you ready? LFG.” - the Moon
This week will reveal a meaningful build of fire and desire energy, with a crescendo of rebirth at the new moon, in which we have the potential to alchemize old wounds and insecurities (Chiron in Aries) around taking up space, standing up for ourselves, and having the right to exist, begin, and fight for the life we truly want, and the self we know ourselves to be.
Ruler Mars at 05º Aries is conjunct (fused with) Saturn at 07º Aries, and both make a sextile to Pluto in Aquarius 5º and Uranus in Taurus 29º. The sextile (60º angle of agreement) between Mars and Pluto brings power, boldness, and a less-fucks-given attitude when it comes to the pursuit of our own longing and destiny.
This minor triangle brings mutual excitement, enthusiasm and support between clear, mature, healthy desire, the courage to follow our dreams, and higher-mind intelligence (Uranus) around self-worth, values, and how to actually build the future we imagine (including what needs to be remodeled or released to make space for something new).

Chiron Fire: Feel it to Heal It
The New Moon in Aries is a potent one for feeling the wound that heals us. Only when we observe and track what affects our ability to take action confidently, assert ourselves, follow our own path, stay present in conflict, and take space in the world, can we overcome the crippling insecurities and perceived imperfections that we let hold us back.
Being brave means being vulnerable, and that vulnerability requires a lot of courage.
Where are you afraid to begin? To stand up for yourself? To be new at something? To fail forward? To fight for your values?
Courage isn’t the absence of fear, but doing it afraid.
Because Saturn is still very much in the mix of this moon, we are asked to get clear on the paths of courage that we want to actually commit to - what kind of life we want to not just dream about, but actively build, with clarity, maturity, and integrity? It may be painful, or bring up old insecurities, to strike out in a new direction, but it will be healing to do so - and the only way to get anywhere is to decide, commit, and begin.
This transit, while it brings a huge surge of energies that may inspire us to take action, may also reveal conflicts between what we want right now (Mars in Aries, immediacy of desire) and what we are willing to sacrifice or endure (Saturn in Aries) for a potentially significant payoff in the longer-term Saturn cycle. Think of it like this - Saturn is interested in building a new 30 year vision, and in partnership with Neptune in Aries, an entirely new earthly paradigm - while Mars may feel impatient with doing the slower, sustainable building that is actually required to accomplish the big vision, and instead, want to grab the quick wins it can right now (because, with hotheaded Mars, tomorrow is never promised).
On the global stage, the merging of Saturn (systems and structures of authority) and Mars (war and independence) may also reveal big displays of firepower and zealous intensity. Yet Aries is ultimately about the power of the individual, rooted in choice and free will, to fight for what they believe is right, and to assert themselves courageously by turning towards their own destiny. When we harness the best of Mars and Saturn, we get steady momentum, courage and wisdom together, Warrior-Student and Elder-Teacher working towards a common aim.
A Magical Battle, Fighting the Good Fight
Think of it like this: Everyone at this party (all the planets and luminaries) are willing to work together towards a common goal, as long as you make the choice to take the first step towards what you want. Our inner feeling world (Moon) is alight with desire, letting us sense what we really want. The ego, identity and conscious doing self (Sun) is conjoined with the Moon, so what we feel and how we act have the potential to fuse together. Even our wounded parts, the ones who have been afraid to stand up, come forward, and choose their truest path (Chiron) are willing to join the Moon & Sun in the pursuit of passion.
The Aries core clique, gathered around ruler Mars, is like a badass gang of sacred warriors bringing their powers together in camaraderie before stepping out onto the battlefield of life and fighting with enthusiasm, zest and zeal for what they believe in. Imagine a battle scene where the Magician, Professor, Warrior(ess) and Wise Elder all join forces for the sake of life and light, as the Hero / Heroine, integrated in their courage and power, prepares to overcome their ‘fatal flaw’ and fight the good fight against the forces of darkness and destruction. This is the energy of the seven-planet lineup in Aries.
We stand for courage, for the vision of a new way, for the right to exist. We are here to LIVE.
(not at all what mine would look like, but a fun interpretation of planets as a heroic council, via Reddit)
The spiritual blueprint (Neptune) is aligned with the personal mind (Mercury, so we have a fresh burst of mental energy translating the vision for the chapter ahead. Willpower and motivation (Mars) are aligned with discipline, maturity, and responsibility (Saturn), and while one is like gas and the other like brakes, when we use them intentionally together, we’re able to steer the vehicle confidently toward our destination.
In Taurus, our ability to build and manifest something beautiful through healthy self-worth and clear values (Venus in Taurus) is approaching the awakened awareness of Uranus in the last degree of Taurus, indicating that this new moon is a seed point for integrating what we’ve learned in the past seven years of Uranus in Taurus as it relates to our stability, security, safety, and effective resourcing. We’ve learned something about what abundance actually means to us personally over the last seven years - now it’s time to translate intentions into actions to break ground on the project of who we’re becoming, and also follow your gut and begin.
While it doesn’t make any major aspects to the moon or its rulers, Jupiter station direct in Cancer is holding the frequency of wholeness and blessing this moon with the potential to conceive, gestate, nourish, nurture and care for whatever we are deciding and beginning with this lunation.
Working with this Moon
Reflect on your life, on all the times that you dared to decide and begin, to take the first bold steps in the direction of your vision, even though you didn’t know how what you wanted would actually come to pass. You said YES to starting something and figuring it out along the way because you were willing to take the risk of whatever outcome, trusting that you would grow into who you needed to be along the way.
Call to mind a time you felt brave facing the unknown. Maybe even express how this felt with your body, inviting yourself into the shape of boldness, courage, and will.
Contemplate a time you stood up for something or something you loved. How was that in your being, or your body? Did you stand tall, shoulders back, chin high, and open your heart to the energy of the spiritual warrior? Can you feel that even now?
The energy of this moon can be summed up in three of the most powerful words you can speak over yourself and into the universe:
I
AM
WILLING.
How does it feel to come into the present moment willing to meet it fully, open to what is ahead, with a strong spine and soft heart? There is a quality of innocence in Aries energy, that of the self who has faith in the future because they have faith in themselves. Call on this inner hero or heroine, and invite them to join you for this moon.

Ritual Practices for this Moon
Rather than symbolic ritual, Aries is interested in seeing you DO SOMETHING. It demands action. Below are a few ways to create a new moon ritual that ignites the spark of life. With all of these, consider them as portals for enlivening your inner power and affirming that you are ALIVE, you are HERE, and you are WILLING.
Connect with inner aliveness. Move your body in a way that gets your heart pumping and reminds you of your aliveness. Feel the heat of your skin, the vitality in your being, the blood pulsing in your veins.
Breath of Fire. Build heat in your being with this pranayama and breath practice that activates and stokes energy and clarity. Sit upright in a comfortable position (in a chair or on the floor, cross-legged). Take a few deep breaths in and out through the nose.
Practice Instructions: Close your eyes and create rhythmic pumping breath, exhaling strongly through the nose as you pull the navel towards the spine, keeping the rest of the body motionless. Inhalation happens passively following the active exhalation. Find a steady beat and continue the breath pattern for 3 minutes. Exhale completely, then inhale a comfortable breath you can retain without strain. Hold as long as you can, then exhale slowly through the nose.
Explore healthy desire. Partnered or solo, make intentional time for your sexuality and the pursuit of pleasure - what does it feel like to let yourself follow the longing and be hungry for the erotic power of your own life force, or share it with the one you’re with?
Fire gazing Tratak practice. Light a candle and place it where you can gaze at it straight ahead as you sit in a comfortable position for meditation. You can sit in a chair and place the candle on a table, or sit on the floor and place it on something at a height where you can gaze comfortably with a straight spine and neck.
Practice Instructions: Close your eyes and take a few deep belly breaths. Open your eyes, and with long deep breathing, gaze at the flame for as long as you can, keeping your eyes open without blinking. Your eyes may go unfocused or begin to water. Continue to gaze at the flame as long as you can, and when you must close your eyes, visualize the flame at your center brow point, between the eyebrows. Hold the flame here as you hold your intention or mantra, then open your eyes and repeat the practice. Start with 5-10 minutes total, and increase as you feel called.
